FINALLY. Some time to frickin' blog. How time flies when you're not having fun. Been running around the continent the last two months shooting one corporate video after the next. One day I'm in Brisbane, the next I'm in Adelaide. Just yesterday I was in Perth. It's gotten so frequent that all the suits I've shot are starting to look the same. My jetsetting commute is quite similar to Edward Norton's character in Fight Club. I swear I'm starting to see split second frames of my Tyler Durden flickering in front of me everytime I wait for the baggage conveyor to spew out my gear. I always remind myself though that this beats working the phones in some desk any time. And once in awhile, a few interesting shoots sprout up amidst all the talking heads stuff- a wine tasting session (for Hardys wine), viral ads involving giant boxing gloves, sex dolls, and electrocution (for MitchelLake), and just today I filmed the first ever gay wedding in Australia. That's right! It was a bit of a shock to discover that in Australia's entire history there has never been a legit gay marriage. Well today there was one and I was there to document it. My hetero contribution to Aussie gay culture!

I've also been donating my precious free time to shoot some films for two of my friends. The first was a film called "For Sale" about a cheeky real estate agent who pulls homeless people off the street and attempts to sell "property" to them- a street corner, an alleyway, a park bench. Very un-PC, but funny in the South Park vein:

The second was a surreal comedy called "Turnabout" which is set in a nightclub where the male roles are played by females and the female roles are played by males. It's a play on sexual power and a study as to how roles in society shift when genders trade places.

The highlight of the shoot was being given the role of "boob inspector" meaning that as a straight guy I got to judge whether the silicon on the guy actors' chests looked realistic enough. I almost took this job as seriously as I did my cinematographer duties.

All my charity work, while racking me up good karma points, almost totally set me back from the real task at hand which was to shoot my own damn film! And fortunately, I remembered just in time.

It's called "The Haircut." It's about a barber who finds himself servicing a most unusual customer.
